27 1/2 weeks... the count down will begin soon

The Arizona 3-Day walk is in 27 1/2 weeks!  WOW! How did that come up so fast!  Official training starts in 3 weeks for me.  Lifetime fitness here I come!  Now that I am feeling better I will be out walking again with a vengeance.  Still have loads of fund raising to do but I am confident we will get there!  Koozies are coming and we still have some T-shirts available in XL and 2XL.

Breast Cancer is a Drag

Our Breast Cancer is a Drag event was Friday April 30th. We raised quite a bit at the event and by selling ballots for Voting. Steve won the general ballot and then we had a best dressed contest and Ron won that one for the tiara and flowers (which he shared with another Queen).  Thank all so much for coming out and participating and for supporting "Team Marley Park".  Here are some pictures from the event.

Breast Cancer is a Drag

Oh the laughter!  I haven't laughed this hard in ages.  A HUGE thank you to all of my Marley Park family for supporting Melinda, Terri and I on our journey to the 3-Day.  We had our Breast Cancer is a Drag event and I have to say.. our male colleagues can wear a dress well.  It was a blast!!!!  We raised quite a bit of money and had a ton of laughs.  I will try to post G rated (if that is even possible) photos  soon.

Marley Park Health Fair

Saturday was the Marley Park Health Fair. It was a quiet turn out but every penny helps the cause.  Thanks Kelly for making the popcorn and the pretzels. They were popular.

Spring Break

This week is spring break for us so I took advantage of a free week I had at Lifetime Fitness and have been doing some fat burning. Yes I said fat.  LOL I have more pounds to lose so rather than distance I have been on the tread mill doing the fat burning routines. Love them. I took advantage of the sign up special and joined the gym.  Feeling great so far.  I have been planning several fundraisers and have been trying to spend some time kicking back this week too.

Upcoming Events:

  • Pebble Creek Parking Lot Sale - March 27th
  • Marley Park Health Fair - April 24th 9am - 1pm
  • Breast Cancer is a Drag , Marley Park Heritage Club - April 30th 5-9pm

Ahhhhhhh

Today was the first time all week I was able to walk.  Parent teacher conferences kicked my booty this week and I had zero time between work and Garrett.  I have a free pass right now to Lifetime Fitness so it was walk on the treadmill day today. LOVED IT! Felt so good to get back in the groove... T-Shirt order is in the mail.. fun fund raisers are being planned.  Loads going on but it is spring break so it will be a fun week here!

Good news day

I took today off to go to my Dr's for a follow up on my blood work.  The good news was that my A1C was down and my good cholesterol was up.  I knew my 36 miles walked in January and February would pay off in more than 1 way.  My thyroid is still off so that dose was changed but maybe that will give me even more energy to keep on walking. I walked a couple miles at my moms when I got back.  Felt good but it was hot in the afternoon sun. Going to go use a week pass at Lifetime Fitness tomorrow night and see if that will help for the summer months.  Huge Thank you to my cousin Laura for donating to the cause this morning too!  Oh did I mention you can purchase an I luv Team Boobs shirt? They are $20 and are sweet!

Decongestants have worked!

My walking has been cramped this week by a nasty cold and sinus problems. Finally this afternoon my sinus medicine kicked in and I was able to head to my moms to visit and of course to walk. Felt good getting back out there and I could breathe.. sort of.  It was pretty warm and my feet felt great in my new sneakers. Hoping I can walk farther without sinus problems tomorrow too. Here is today's walk on Runkeeper.

Tshirts

Leslie designed this awesome tshirt logo for the 3-Day.  We are going to try to sell shirts to fund raise as a team and get us to our goals for the 3-Day.  It is soooo exciting! Please email me if you would like to purchase one!

New Sneakers and a milestone!

So I went to Foot Solutions and had them do a foot analysis yesterday. Turns out  my feet are not "normal". hahaha That wasn't surprising.  I am hoping the new Brooks brand sneakers I have will help my feet not cramp up after 5 miles.  I reached a fundraising milestone today and hit $500!  Only $1800 left to go!  Thanks so much to my Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis for their donation today!

Cloudy Skies and Creepy Paths

The goal for yesterday's walk was 5miles but I made it 4.79 after walking with wet shoes and being startled by a dead cat and a LONG creepy trail at the beginning. Funny how dark clouds can make you feel like you are in the middle of no where even though you have houses right on the other side of the wall from you. I had to walk the long way around on this walk because of flooded washes and I still managed to get my feet wet crossing a small shallow portion of the back community wash near the canal. Not a fun walk but I was still glad to get the miles in. New shoes were purchased today. I found out I have flatter feet and am an overpronator. Learn something everyday. :) You can view yesterday's walk here... http://bit.ly/9X78yU

Thanks so everyone who donated over the weekend. A friend of mine is donating $100 worth of Avon products to raffle towards the walk so details will be coming soon!

Why?

So why am I walking this year in the Arizona 3-Day?

A friend of my family/neighbor of my mom's and a former co-worker of mine were diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the last year and I just felt like I needed to take this on, for Kathy, Alice, and for many of our friends, including Karen M., now a 6 year survivor, that have fought or are fighting breast cancer. This walk will be in memory of Granny and in celebration of all our friends that are fighting Breast Cancer or have fought and won!
